Vibrant Health – November 8th through 14th

As we continue to connect with Bison Medicine this month, we thought it would be fun to see how they can help us create and maintain vibrant health. From the food point of view, bison is a very healthy meat! It offers many of the benefits of beef, without the drawbacks. You can learn more about the benefits of bison here if you are interested: Nowadays, you can often find bison meat at the local grocery store. If you aren’t able to find it there though, look for local farms. We took a trip out to Creston, Ohio to a local butcher (Whitefeather Meats to get some bison meat today. If you are in the area, this is one of our favorite local stores to find healthy, humanely processed meat.

From a metaphoric point of view, Bison offer a great example of how attitude can impact health. While we know that bison can get feisty, all the times we saw them they were so relaxed! As we were connecting with their energy to write this post, it occurred to us how the ability to relax offers such great gifts to our health. Stress is so often the root of illness, so reducing stress and learning how to relax is a great way to experience vibrant health.

Try It

Connect with the energy of bison this week and imagine that you are a bison. Feel how strong, solid and sturdy they are. Imagine the sun shining on your back and the gentle breeze around you. Smell the prairie grass and let yourself relax. Surrender your cares and try allowing yourself to experience this deep peace, even as little as 15 minutes each day. See if you notice a difference in how you feel!

We love this video of Bison in Yellowstone. No need to watch all three hours if you don’t have the time. Just a few minutes is very soothing and a good way to connect to deep relaxation!
